Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona
Another appropriately named photo. I’m loving these cactus images. Never saw the beauty of the desert or of cacti until after living in Tucson.
Thanks Judy. I think some people take longer than others to warm up to the desert. (No pun intended.) The attraction of the Sonoran Desert was one reason I moved to Tucson. I still kick myself sometimes for leaving that part of the country, although that never happens during the 6 months out of the year it gets over 100 degrees down there.
Yes, the heat is definitely the down-side. I think for me it was the shock of moving from the Pacific NW to the desert. Never really appreciated the desert until after I left Tucson.
I remember Mark expressing some misgivings about the desert terrain early on. I guess coming from Kansas I could relate better to treeless landscapes. I was really psyched to be there in that environment.
