In an ironic twist (given the message here), it’s amazing how certain phrases that would seem rather pointless or meaningless “in the wild” gain potential import when viewed in the context and confines of an art gallery (in this case Aunt Dofe’s).

The Fashion Queen listens to an artist friend’s wife in the back room behind the exhibition space at Aunt Dofe’s art gallery. (It used to be called Aunt Dofe’s Hall of Recent Memory, an evocative name I really liked. I’m not sure why the new owner shortened it.)

Ultimately, as they (and we) all do, the tree died. But the tenacity of this tree root’s search for nutrients and water in a rugged terrain is something to be admired.

Bushy Eyebrow

My first impression of this scene (aside from the eyebrow thing of course) is that the cactus grew out under the protection of the piece of wood. But I’m guessing it’s more the case that the cactus stopped the wood’s slide further down into the dry creek bed. Whatever the case, it is unusual to see a cactus growing straight out sideways on a near vertical slope.
