I’m not too interested in porcelain vases etc., but last December while walking through the room containing the porcelain display at The National Art Museum of China, the shadows under one of the tables holding the display created a composition that I liked a lot.

These particular items on my window sill seemed nicely arranged by accident and in the morning light the faded colors glowed nicely.

Trolling for interesting but neglected images among my old photographs I came across this one taken in a hallway of the Seattle Art Museum. The image immediately reminded me of a science fiction book of the same name I read many years ago. It was quite a good read as I remember.

There looked to be some capstone covering parts of the sand dunes in Death Valley. But it consisted of very porous and fragile sandstone and seemed to be quickly disintegrating, becoming  just more loose sand to be blown around by the wind.
