POTD: Let It Roll

POTD: Let It RollLet It Roll Paris, France 2013

Some roller gears on a printing press at the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris (Museum of Arts and Crafts). As convenient as modern computer-based methods of printing are, watching printed output come out of a laser or inkjet printer just doesn’t compare to an old-fashioned printing press. Nor are the parts as sculpturally interesting.]]>

POTD: Haves and Have-Nots

POTD: Haves and Have-Nots Haves and Have-Nots Paris, France 2013

Paris is no place to be without a steady source of income. (Is anywhere you might ask? It’s just that everything is so expensive in Paris.) I did notice though that a lot of the beggars on the streets in Paris seemed to be much better dressed in cleaner clothes than the typical homeless person I see in the U.S. They also seemed to eat well in that I often saw them eating out of Tupperware containers with fresh looking salads and other healthy looking foodstuffs in them. I wonder why that is? Perhaps someone routinely provides them with supplies? Maybe I should look into it.]]>

A mural on the wall of a building next to the Pompidou Center. I believe the fellow depicted may be Pablo Picasso. If not it should have been; there was a huge Picasso tribute exhibition going on at the Pompidou at the time.]]>

POTD: Here, There,…

POTD: Here, There,...Here, There,… Paris, France 2013

Even when the signs in Paris where in English, they didn’t necessarily reduce any of my confusion. Like the man said, wherever you go, there you are. More to the point, it was the Beatles who sang “Here, There, and Everywhere:”

FIrst Quarter Score: Snow 1 Art Show 0

snow2 I showed up to begin setting up for the Brookside art show here in Kansas City late this afternoon to find out the snow was coming down too hard allow getting the big tent I was supposed to be under set up. So they postponed setting it up until tomorrow middle of the day (hopefully), which means they had to cancel the Friday hours for the show. So now the three day show (two and a half really I guess) is now down to a two day show on Saturday and Sunday only–maybe, if the weather improves. And to think I drove 1200 miles from Montana to do a show here because the weather in Montana is too iffy until July to do outdoor art shows.]]>

Spring Snow

Kansas City Snow

Spring Snow Kansas City, Missouri 2013

I’m in Kansas City, waiting to set up for the Brookside Art Annual in a couple of hours. The forecast is for accumulating wet snow tonight through tomorrow noon at least with winds gusting to 30mph. Not much improvement expected after that either it seems. So, if you live in the Kansas City area and are a hardy type, dig out those mukluks you put away for the season and come on down. I’ll be the one wondering why he drove all the way from Montana when he could have just stayed home if he wanted this kind of meteorological abuse. My booth is under the big tent so at least you’ll be dry, if not warm, once you’re under it.]]>
