As Simple as Black and White

Ask anybody do describe a magpie and the first thing they’re likely to say is something like “Well, they’re black and white birds.” Which of course they are, sort of. But like life, things are never quite as simple as black and white.
I love the iridesence of their feathers when they catch the light. It’s amazing to me that your camera recorded the blue without benefit of direct light in this shot.
Thanks Kathy. I’m not sure, but I think maybe indirect light might actually bring out the colors and iridescence better than direct light. I do know it’s easier to photograph in indirect light because the specular highlights are reduced.
