Shadowed Blue
Chicago, Illinois
2024
Chicago’s House of Blues (on the right) spends most of the afternoon in the shadow of the less dynamically shaped but much taller buildings to its west. I’m not sure where the dappled sunlight shining on it came from–there aren’t any trees of any size nearby. Perhaps it’s reflected sunlight off of the windows of the nearby buildings.
Nice image with the shadows on the House of Blues. But I’m also noticing those parked cars – they look awfully close to the edge. Don’t think I’ d have the nerve to park in those spots!
Thanks Judy. Those cars are in the lower levels of the famous “corncob” towers that sit right on the edge of the Chicago River. Close to the edge is right. There’s a scene from a movie from some years ago of a car crashing through the sailing scene with and lounging down into the river.
The movie is The Hunter starring Steve McQueen.

Quite a chase scene!! And before special effects so I’m assuming that car really did plunge into the river. I just know that if I had to park there I would certainly want a much more substantial barrier in place!
Definitely not the parking garage for the faint of heart.
