Absaroke Shield Detail
Buffalo Bill Center for the West, Wyoming
2026
The center portion of an Absaroke (Crow) Indian shield, ca. 1860. It’s made of tanned deer hide, rawhide, pigments, glass pony beads, red wool and flicker feather. A true mixed media artwork, and a very classy design.

Do you happen to have a photo of the entire shield? I’d just like to see the shape.
As you might imagine, it’s round.
