Waif in the Window
Nevada City, Montana
2026
This is the kind of old house I’d really, really like to take a look inside. Unfortunately this place is heavily fenced and signed “No Trespassing.” It’s not clear if anyone is currently living there, other than the waif in the window of course.
What an elaborate set of gables & lightning rods in addition to all the windows. Whoever built that house had a lot of money at one time!
A lot of money that perhaps came from the nearby gold diggings. The gold digs as well as the house are definitely not what they used to be.
Never mind the waif, just look at that roof line! How on earth did anyone ever create that? It makes me rather dizzy.
Quite the roofline for sure. But I have a special affinity for the place. I’ll explain in a non-POTD post later tonight or tomorrow.

Larry have you ever visited Winchester House in San Jose? Its a tourist spot now but still worth the visit and a fascinating history!
Hi Jodi. I’ve never heard of the Winchester House (and never been to San Jose unless they it was just driving through). But I looked it up and read the back story. What an interesting story and fun looking place. I’d love to visit it, with my camera in hand of course. I’ll have to put that on my bucket list, if I ever create one that is.
