I remember Skelly gas stations when I was growing up. They eventually went out of business, although the name was resurrected in 2012 and is used by some outfit based in Texas. I’m not sure why someone would bother using that name these days given the implications about the founders described in the book “Killers of the Flower Moon”.
“Skelly” I couldn’t place where I saw this name until you mentioned it in “Killers of the Flower Moon”.
Skelly stations used to be all over Kansas I think. They must have disappeared before your time there. They may have disappeared even before I first got my driver’s license. I just remember my dad stopping at them sometimes.
