Patriot’s Dream #91
Chloride, Arizona
2025
This flag photo reminds me of the very first Patriot’s Dream image I took 21 years ago in Cherry Creek, Nevada. It too was in the window of a small white cabin, only in a more rundown condition than the cabin in today’s photo. Here’s that photo:

Is your memory truly so good that you remembered your first Patriot’s Dream photo from 21 year’s ago?
You’ve been doing POTDs a very long time! We were just kids when this all started!
I really like both of these, but especially your first one, which is kind of dreamy. Now that you’ve taken me back there, I’m remembering the times and my feelings about our flag and patriotism when you started your Patriot’s Dream series. It’s interesting to note my journey with that.
My memory is not that great but I do remember that first Patriot’s Dream photo because it got quite a response from people on both sides of the political divide and sold well at art shows. Plus I like the image. A literary magazine somewhere in the Pacific Northwest (I can’t remember the name offhand) published that photo along with the names of all the soldiers who had died so far in G. W. Bush’s war in Iraq.
And yes, it’s been a long time since I started the POTDs. The Fashion Queen took a job in Washington, D.C. in 2003 while I stayed home working at the national lab in Idaho Falls, ID. She asked me to send her one of the photos I was working on once in a while so she could see what I was up to. So, I started sending her a photo every day. Soon, after hearing about what I was doing, other people started asking to see the photos too. And the rest is history.
