  1. Love the light and the subject matter! In the days of horse transportation, there was no “quick” trip! Just tacking up, whether for riding (shorter) or driving (longer) would be at least 1/2 hour! 🙂

    1. Thanks. My grandparents used horses on their farm before I was born and still had the old tack hanging in their barn until it burned down after a lightning strike in the 70s sometime. He had a matched pair of mules that he like so much that he quit college and went back to the farm to be around them–or so my mother once told me when she was showing me a photograph of him and his mules. Still, I think he readily adopted engine powered tractors etc. when they became available. In his old age, he gave me a string of sleigh bells that he had used on horse (or mule) drawn sleigh they had back in the day. While reminiscing about riding in the sleigh in the winter he said “I guess some things about the good old days really were good.”
