The Fashion Queen is not a farmer and she’s not harvesting rice, just removing unwanted grass growing in our pond. But she did remind me of the many photos you see of Asian rice farmers such as this one:

That was my first thought before seeing the second picture.
I’m thinking you might very well have seen many examples like the 2nd photo in your past.
Lots of little rice paddies. There was a very small village next to the west perimeter that grew rice and it was interesting to see the process from beginning to end. They treated the 3 square mile perimeter with Agent Orange but were “kind enough” to not spray the western side. I don’t know if this attachment will open up but the the village is to the left of the fencing.

Interesting. I don’t think I’d want to have to deal with the potential Agent Orange over spray, but they obviously didn’t have any say in the matter. That link didn’t work but thanks for sending the photos via email.
