  1. Hope you weren’t in as precarious a position as this tree when you took this picture! Looks like there are a few leaves on the tree so somehow it is surviving to some extent.

    1. I was in relative safety, on a relatively flat rock. Not that I would have wanted to do it, but a person falling from this cliff could easily survive as it’s pretty much straight down to the water below. It would have been a good, cold swim to anywhere you could climb back out though.

    I’m having a little trouble getting the proper perspective of the image but if that tree is indeed, a cliffhanger, it is a pretty tough one. It seems to have a very thick trunk which would indicate it has been there awhile .

    1. It is indeed attached to the side of a cliff. And the juniper trees in the Bighorn canyon area mimic their ancient cousins the bristlecone pines in that they seem to be more trunk than anything else and they do live a long time.
