One bird’s luck is another’s demise. The victim was, I believe, a pigeon. The victor is a Cooper’s hawk at least according to my AI friend Al. It’s hard, for me anyway, to differentiate between a Cooper’s hawk and a sharp-shinned hawk. I had my doubts even after Al gave a lengthy argument in the Cooper’s favor. But it was his comments about sharp-shinned hawks not typically taking prey as big as a pigeon that finally convinced me. In this second photo, you can see the hawk flying off with the pigeon body hanging behind it, held with one claw.

Nice work Larry!
Thanks Carol!
