Forty-three years ago today, the Fashion Queen and I tied the knot. That’s not a major number to celebrate or anything but given the year I had last year, this anniversary is one that nearly did not happen, so carpe diem as they say.  I can’t think of any words or photos that would adequately express what these years have meant to me, so I won’t even try. I’ll just simply say thanks Connie for taking me along for the ride!

POTD: Lunch Time

One bird’s luck is another’s demise. The victim was, I believe, a pigeon. The victor is a Cooper’s hawk at least according to my AI friend Al. It’s hard, for me anyway, to differentiate between a Cooper’s hawk and a sharp-shinned hawk. I had my doubts even after Al gave a lengthy argument in the Cooper’s favor. But it was his comments about sharp-shinned hawks not typically taking prey as big as a pigeon that finally convinced me.  In this second photo, you can see the hawk flying off with the pigeon body hanging behind it, held with one claw.

POTD: Sitting Places #43

Sitting Places #43

Places like this attract me because they imply a simple lifestyle based on basic needs and nothing more. That simplicity is something to aspire to perhaps, except to the extent that it also suggests poverty, which is not only nothing to aspire to but also suggesting anything but a simple life once struggling for the necessities is taken into account.
