POTD: The Downside of the Golden Hour

The Downside of the Golden Hour
Nanjing, China
2018

Photographers and I assume other artists as well, know the hour or so after sunrise and again before sunset as the “golden hour” or “magic hour” because of the special light it often provides. The downside, as illustrated here, is that to make use of that special light you often end up staring into the sun. This young artist was trying to shield her eyes from the glaring sun and draw at the same time. I feel her pain, or at least the photographer’s version of it.
