From this angle you might think this is a shot of the butt end of a long log as are typical along the coast. This chunk of wood however was pretty spherical in shape, roughly four feet in diameter. Perhaps it was the stump of a large tree that washed into the ocean and subsequently rounded by repeated pounding on the rocks in the surf.
