This is the blog site for Larry Blackwood Photography. Here I post commentary on photography as well as updates on my photography activities such as shows, publications, new print products etc. But most importantly this is where I now post a new photo every day.
Since 2003 I have been creating a Picture of the Day (POTD) for a growing list of family, friends, and other folks who are interested in my photography. POTD began as a simple email with a picture file attached. After a few years I switched to posting the photos on a special web page and sending a notification email whenever a new photo was posted. Now the POTD is posted on this blog.
Nearly every day I post a new POTD on this blog. These photos are usually selections from whatever set of images I am currently working on. They are not to be confused with the more finished products that appear in the regular galleries on this website. Some of the POTDs will eventually make it into a formal gallery and/or become part of the collection of photos I sell at art shows. Others are just of passing day-to-day interest, maybe just something goofy that I came across and wanted to share. Often they are more meant to be casual entertainment than serious art.
If you are interested in following the day-to-day progress of a working fine art photographer, you are welcome to follow the posts on this blog. You can use an RSS service (e.g. Google Reader) to notify you when a new post appears. Alternatively, I still maintain an email notification list which you are welcome to join. The email is sent whenever I post a new POTD and simply contains a convenient direct link to the new blog post. To join the email notification list, please send an email to me at the address listed on my contact page here and put the words “subscribe to POTD” in either the subject or text of the email. Once I receive your email, I will add you to the list. You can stop getting the POTD emails at any time by simply replying to one of the emails. I will of course never share your email address with anyone else.
One reason I post the POTDs is to get the reaction of people to the photos. So, please, if you see a photo that moves you in some way, good, bad, or otherwise, let me know! I appreciate all feedback.
Thanks Laurie. I’ll be interested to see your web site when you get it up and running. Keep me posted.
Larry,
I love your B&W work and the link to haiku. I’ve been working on a tree series and enjoyed yours very much. Looking forward to your POTDs.
As a side note – thrilled to see another math career person who is also an artist.
Happy New Year!
Laurie Wachter
